Did Simonetta Stefanelli really die?

I read online that the Italian actress Simonetta Stefanelli died in Rome this year (July 23) of cancer. I’m having a hard time finding any info on this. There are about 3 websites reporting this and I don’t know if they are accurate. Is this true?

(She was the Sicilian girl Al Pacino’s character married in The Godfather.)
PS: I do NOT count wikipedia as a reliable source because anyone can add anything.

I prefer to see an Italian newspaper article or something.
